Know Your Gold.
Wear It with Confidence.
Understanding purity, karats and hallmarks makes choosing jewellery a more informed experience.

What Does a Karat Mean?
A karat (K) is a measure of the gold proportion in an alloy: 24K represents nearly pure gold, while lower karats include other metals for different properties.
Approximately 99.9% Gold
Often seen in investment-grade bars and coins. Nearly pure gold is relatively soft for many intricate everyday jewellery pieces.
Approximately 91.67% Gold
A popular choice for traditional ornaments. The remaining alloy content changes strength and the metal's characteristics.
75% Gold
Often used in contemporary jewellery and gemstone settings, offering a different balance of gold content and durability.
Three Things to Check
Before purchasing, confirm the official marking and the item's specifications with the retailer.
Check the Hallmark
Look for the applicable BIS hallmark on gold jewellery and check that the fineness/purity marking is appropriate.
Verify HUID
Where relevant, verify the hallmark unique identification number through official BIS verification channels.
Understand the Bill
Review item weight, purity, gold rate, making charges and applicable billing details before finalizing a purchase.
Helpful note
This guide is educational. Hallmark applicability and product-specific certifications vary; verify actual jewellery specifications and current legal requirements at the time of purchase.
